Islamabad, Aug 22 (IBNS) Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday said it is ready to initiate talks with the government.

"Following a meeting of the PTI’s core committee today, senior leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi told reporters in Islamabad that his party was now ready to engage in negotiations with the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) led government," Dawn News reported.

PTI lawmakers earlier in the day submitted their resignations from the National Assembly.

Demanding Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's resignation, protesters led by Pakistan's cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan and cleric Tahir ul-Qadri  demonstrated in Islamabad's Red Zone since Tuesday.

The Red Zone in Islamabad houses state buildings and foreign embassies.
