Nepal President Bidya Devi Bhandari re-elected to 2nd term of office
Kathmandu, Mar 13 (IBNS): Bidya Devi Bhandari has been re-elected as the President of Nepal for a second term.
She is the first woman President of the nation.
Bhandari won the presidential election with an overwhelming majority.
The Left alliance candidate won the vote with more than a two-thirds majority.
Bhandari defeated her Nepali Congress (NC) rival Kumari Laxmi Rai.
President Bhandari received 39,275 votes, while NC lawmaker Rai received 11,730 votes. President Bhandari has won by 27,545 votes. Vote-weightage of each voter of the House of Representatives and National Assembly was 79, while that of each Provincial Assembly member was equivalent to 48, The Himalayan Times reported.
Voting for the poll started at 10 am and continued till 3 pm.
Counting of votes started at 4 pm.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice of the country will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the re-elected President on Wednesday.
