Afghanistan: 45 insurgents, including Taliban shadow deputy governor for Uruzgan, killed during operations
Kabul, Apr 10 (IBNS): At least 45 insurgents, including the Taliban shadow deputy governor for Uruzgan province, have been killed during various operations carried by Afghan security forces, reports said on Tuesday.
The operations were carried out on Monday, local Tolo News reported.
Confirming the news, Afghan Ministry Of Defense said that Taliban’s shadow deputy governor for Uruzgan, Abdullah, was gunned down during the encounter.
Mohammad Radmanish, the ministry’s deputy spokesman, said that the militant was killed in Khas Uruzgan district of the province.
He added that at least 13 insurgents were killed in Shah Wali Kot district of Kandahar, while six each were gunned down in Khas Uruzgan of Uruzgan province, Nad Ali district of Helmand province and Zurmat district of Paktia province.
In Bala Block district of Farah province, four insurgents were killed, while a similar number of militants died in Kohistan district of Faryab province.
The army also killed three insurgents, who were planting mines in Gereshk district of Helmand province.
The remaining three militants were shot dead in Shahjoy district of Zabul province.
The deputy spokesperson added that at least 37 other insurgents were wounded during the operations, while 25 more were nabbed.
The Taliban has not yet commented on the report.
