Dhaka Cafe attack: Bangladesh police charge 8
Dhaka, July 23 (IBNS): The Bangladesh Police have filed charge sheet against eight terrorists in connection with the 2016 Dhaka cafe attack.
Meanwhile, Prof Hasnat Karim, a former teacher of North South University was dropped from the charge sheet as “investigation could not relate him with the militant activity”, The Daily Star reported.
The charge sheet was placed before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nurunnahar Yesmi, reports said.
Inspector Humayun Kabir of the CTTC submitted the charge sheet.
Kabir is also the investigation officer of the case.
"Those made accused are: 'Neo-Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh' operatives Rakibul Islam Regan, Hadisur Rahman Sagor, Jahangir Hossain Rajeeb alias Rajeeb Gandhi, Aslam Hossain Rashed alias Rash, Abdus Sabur Khan alias Sohel Mahfuj, Mizanur Rahman alias Baro Mizan, and Mamunur Rashid alias Ripon and Shariful Islam Khaled, a former student of the English department at Rajshahi University," read the newspaper report.
Out of them, six are currently in jail.
Two are currently on the run.
They have been identified as Mamunur Rashid alias Ripon and Shariful Islam Khaled.
In 2016, Bangladesh witnessed a massive terrorist attack when militants attacked a cafe at Gulshan area in Dhaka and killed at least 20 people.
