Lahore, Sept 24 (IBNS): The Lahore High Court on Monday summoned former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is an accused in a high treason case, on Oct 8, media reports said.

Former Prime Ministers Sharif, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and journalist Cyril Almeida are accused in the case.

A three-member full bench, headed by Justice Mazahar Ali Naqvi, was hearing the petition, which was lodged by Advocate Azhar Siddiqui.

The petition alleged that Abbasi had shared important details of the National Security Council (NSC) meeting with Sharif following his statement after 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai, the financial capital of India.

The petition said Abbas had committed treason by sharing the details.

Defence counsel Advocate Naseer Bhutta apprised the court that Sharif was unable to be present during the hearing as several people are visiting him to condole the death of the former Prime Minister's wife Begum Kulsoom.

As per Bhutta's request, Justice Naqvi fixed the next hearing date on Oct 8.
