In a statement issued by his spokesperson in New York, Ban condemned “in the strongest terms” the terrorist attack, which, according to news reports, killed more than 50 people and wounded perhaps 100 others.
Through the statement, the Secretary-General expressed his condolences to the families of those killed in the attack and to the people and Government of Pakistan, and wished those wounded a quick recovery.
