Dhaka, Dec 2 (IBNS): Ahead of Bangladesh polls, the three nominations filed by ex-Prime Minister of Bangladesh Khaleda Zia have been canceled, media reports said.

She had filed her nominations from Feni-1, Bogura-6 and Bogura-7 constituencies.

Her nominations were canceled on the ground of her conviction in two corruption cases.

In Feni-1, Returning Officer Md Wahiduzzaman rejected the nomination papers of Khaleda and three others in the constituency at 11:30am today, reported The Daily Star newspaper.

The other three people whose nominations have been canceled are BNP nominee Nur Mohammad and independent candidates Abul Basher Chowdhury and Mizanur Rahman.

The ROs are scrutinising 3,065 nominations, including the three of Khaleda, today, reported the Bangladesh-based newspaper.

In Bangladesh, main opposition alliance led by Zia's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has decided to contest the elections this year.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Awami League are looking forward to coming to power for the third term.

Awami League formed the government in the country after registering a massive victory in 2009 and then returned to power for the second term in 2014.

Bangladesh is scheduled to vote on Dec 30.
