India's ruling party anti-Muslim, anti-Pakistan: Imran Khan

India Blooms News Service | @indiablooms | 07 Dec 2018, 04:42 pm

Islamabad, Dec 7 (IBNS): Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the ruling political party in India has an "anti-Muslim, anti-Pakistan approach".

During an interview with The Washington Post, answering a question on India dismissing the cricketer-turned-politician's friendly overtures after he became Prime Minister, Khan said: "India has elections coming up. The ruling party has an anti-Muslim, anti-Pakistan approach."

Khan hopes bilateral talks can resume between the two nuclear-armed neighbours once the general elections in India get over in 2019.

Speaking on bringing the perpetrators of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks to book, Khan said, "We also want something done about the bombers of Mumbai. I have asked our government to find out the status of the case. Resolving that case is in our interest because it was an act of terrorism."

During the course of the interview, the Pakistan Prime Minister said his country would not be treated by a US hired gun.

“I would never want to have a relationship where Pakistan is treated like a hired gun — given money to fight someone else’s war. We should never put ourselves in this position again. It not only cost us human lives, devastation of our tribal areas, but it also cost us our dignity. We would like a proper relationship with the US,” Khan said responding to a question on his vision for Pakistan's relationship with the US. “For instance, our relationship with China is not one-dimensional. It’s a trade relationship between two countries. We want a similar relationship with the US.”

He also denied Pakistan was providing refuge to Taliban leaders.

"There are no sanctuaries in Pakistan,” he said. "Our border between Pakistan and Afghanistan has the greatest amount of surveillance. The US has satellites and drones. These people crossing would be seen."
