Taliban commander Mullah Basir and his 20 fighters killed in Balkh airstrike
Kabul, Jan 10 (IBNS) : A commander of the Taliban group Mullah Abdul Basir and his twenty fighters have been killed in an airstrike in northern Balkh province of Afghanistan.
Local Khaama Press quoted the Afghan Military as saying in a statement that the airstrike was carried out by coalition forces.
The statement further added that the gathering was targeted in Nawshar Baloch area of Chemtal district, leaving Mawlavi Abdul Basir alias Badar dead with his two fighters.
According to 209th Shaheen Corps, an armored vehicle of the militants was also destroyed along with several motorcycles in the airstrike.
Another militant was killed during a clash with the security forces in Darwaza Khwaja area of the province, the 209th Shaheen Corps added in its statement.
The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban have not commented regarding the killing of the group’s fighters so far.
