Kabul, Mar 22 (IBNS): Two U.S. service members were killed while conducting an operation in Afghanistan on Friday, officials said.

However, detailed information regarding the US service members has not been revealed.

"In accordance with U.S. Department of Defense policy, the name of the service members killed in action are being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete," read a statement issued by NATO-led Resolute Support Mission.

As per Tolo News, more than 2,400 US military personnel have been killed in America’s 17-year-long conflict in Afghanistan.

About 14,000 US service members are currently stationed in Afghanistan, with the primary duty of training, assisting advising the Afghan forces, reported the Afghanistan-based news portal.
