Dhaka, June 1 (IBNS):  Awami League Presidium Member Mohammed Nasim  on Saturday expressed his fear that there can be fresh emergence of militancy in the country.

He said the trouble has not been completely eliminated from Bangladesh.

“The militancy can raise their heads anytime as the militant groups are engaged in hatching conspiracy to destroy our democracy,” Nasim, the spokesperson of the Awami League-led 14-party alliance, was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.

“Our democracy is not freed from BNP-Jamaat nexus as it is still hatching a conspiracy. We will have to remain alert under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.

He made the remark at a time when there were recent claims of credit for bombings on police by the Islamic State.

The Bangladeshi leader said the coalition led by the Awami League would organise anti-militancy rallies in division and district levels following the Eid-ul-Fitr festival.

Terrorists had attacked Holey Artisan Bakery in Bangladesh capital Dhaka in 2016 which left 20 people, including foreign nationals, killed.
