Lahore: Showing yet another dark chapter of atrocities on minorities in Pakistan, a Sikh girl has allegedly been abducted and forcefully converted in Pakistan's Nankana Sahib city.

The family of abducted Jagjit Kaur has alleged that she was forced to marry a Muslim man after being converted to Islam. They have threatened to immolate themselves in front of Pakistan's Punjab Governor's house if the girl is not returned soon.

"A  daughter of a Granthi of Gurdwara Tambu Sahib [Sikh priest] in Nankana Sahib was missing for past 3 days. She has surfaced on Thursday after marrying a Muslim man and embracing Islam," videos going viral now showed.

The video of the wedding ceremony of the girl has now become viral on the social media. In the video, the girl  in a deadpan face is saying that she has embraced Islam and married the Muslim man by her own will even as her family alleged she was forced to do so.

Jagjit Kaur could be seen chanting Quranic verses as recited by a Muslim cleric.  She married a man named Mohammad Ehsan, as per the video.

The man is a member of terrorist organization Jamaat ud Dawa, sources said.

She said she has been renamed Aisha after her conversion.

She could be heard saying in the video that she did not bring any jewellery or any crucial property paper from her home.

In the video, the girl could be seen sitting beside Ehsan.

Meanwhile, a meeting at Nanakana Sahib Gurduara Sahib Janam Asthan, Guru Nanak Sahib, close to Lahore city, took place where a decision was taken to protest on Saturday at the Governor House while an international conference related to Kartarpur Corridor is scheduled.

The uncle of the girl said they would take it before the house of the governor of Pakistan's Punjab during an international seminar on Aug 31 if the girl was not returned soon.

Media reports earlier said there had been cases of several incidents of kidnapping and forced conversion of Hindu and Sikh girls in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces of Pakistan.

Reacting to the incident,  Akali Dal and Delhi MLA Manjider Singh Sirsa asked Pakistan PM Imran Khan to protect the interest of minorities.

Sirsa tweeted: "An 18-year old Sikh girl in Pakistan forced to convert to Islam! Yes, this incident happened in Nankana Sahib @ImranKhanPTI Ji should protect the interests of minorities in Pakistan. We condemn the action and urge @DrSJaishankar Ji to take up this issue with his Pak counterpart."

He also urged PM Narendra Modi to take up the issue of safety of minorities in Pakistan at the global level.

"It is disheartening to see 18-year old girls being converted forcefully to Islam in Pakistan! We condemn such forceful conversions & urge @narendramodi Ji & @DrSJaishankar Ji to take up the issue of safety of Sikhs in Pak at global level @ANI @republic @ZeeNews @thetribunechd," he said.
