Pakistan: 75 hurt due to aftershocks in quake-hit area
Islamabad: Days after Pakistan was hit by a magnitude 6.3 earthquake this week, several aftershocks rocked the cities of Mirpur and Jhelum on Thursday and left 75 people injured, media reports said.
Sources told Geo News most of the injured were from the Thothal district in Mirpur.
The earthquake, which hit Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) region on Tuesday, left 39 people dead and nearly 600 others hurt.
The aftershocks hit the region at a time when people are still trying to pick through toppled buildings to reach victims of the earthquake.
Near Mirpur, roads were completely destroyed and vehicles overturned by the tremors while bridges, mobile phone towers, and electricity poles were also badly damaged in the melee, reported Geo News.
The tremors of Tuesday's quake were also experienced in several north Indian states including capital city New Delhi.
