Pakistan: Blast rocks Quetta mosque, 15 killed

Quetta/IBNS: A blast rocked a mosque in Quetta area of Pakistan on Friday which left at least 15 people killed on Friday, media reports said.

The blast left 20 people injured.

According to Quetta Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdul Razzaq Cheema and hospital sources, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Amanullah and the mosque's imam were among the deceased, reported Dawn News.

The injured people were shifted to Quetta's Civil Hospital.

Bomb disposal squad (BDS) and security personnel reached the spot following the blast.

The entire area has been cordoned off.

The mosque, where the blast occurred, is located in a densely populated Pashtun-majority neighbourhood.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.

DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor tweeted: "FC Bln troops reached Qta blast site. Area cordoned off. Joint search operation with police in progress.Injured being evacuated to hosp. 

'Every possible assistance be given to police & civil administration. Those who targeted innocents in a mosque can never be true Muslim', COAS."

A blast near McConaghey Road in Quetta area of Pakistan had claimed two lives earlier this week. The blast left 14 people injured.
