Islamabad/IBNS: Pakistan Rangers allegedly opened fire on their own citizens who returned from coronavirus- hit Iran though no casualty was reported, sources said based on a video report from the spot as people alleged squalid conditions at the quarantine facilities.

The incident happened after Pakistan opened Taftan border entry point to allow the return of 340 of its citizens, sources said.

"Pakistan opened #Taftan border entry point temporarily to facilitate return of around 340 Pakistanis, including 184 pilgrims, stranded in the Iranian town Mirjaveh," sources said.

Iran is one of the badly-hit countries in the world where coronavirus infection left several people dead.

According to news agency MNA, Pakistani officials have urged Iran to quarantine Pakistani pilgrims coming back from Iran at the joint borders for some days before letting them cross the border into Pakistan. They said that a large number of pilgrims coming back from Iran have been quarantined in Pakistan and there is not enough capacity for more to arrive from Iran.

People  in the Taftan camp told Al Jazeera they were not being adequately screened for coronavirus or treated for existing conditions. They also complained of squalid living conditions at the facility, which is housing hundreds of people, the Al Jazeera report said.

In Pakistan, the total number of coronavirus cases has jumped to 179 after 126 new cases were reported on Monday.

Most of the cases were reported from Sindh, with the tally rising to 146 on Monday and 119 people testing positive for the virus in Sukkur, reported Geo News.

Pakistan refuses to bring back its own children from Wuhan:

Pakistan earlier left its own students in Coronavirus-hit China, despite their pleadings, to showcase their bond and solidarity with the Asian behemoth that often backed the Islamic nation against India.

China's Wuhan city remained the epicentre of the disease.
