China constructs nine buildings on Nepali territory

| @indiablooms | 20 Sep 2020, 05:15 pm

China is continuing its aggressive stance and it has now constructed nine buildings on the Nepali territory, media reports said.

According to media reports, the development came to light during an inspection of the Lapcha-Limi region of Humla from Aug 30 to Sept 9 by Assistant Chief District Officer Dalbahadur Hamal of Humla.

The Lapcha-Lipu region does not enjoy the presence of state because of its remoteness from the district headquarters, reports Khabarhub.

District Administration Office Humla has reported about the encroachment to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), and the case has already been forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the news portal reported.

A member of the monitoring team maintaining anonymity told the news portal, “We could see the buildings from a distance. We had heard rumors about a building being constructed by China there but found eight more in our visit.”

It has been found that China has constructed a building on Nepali territory in Lapcha area of Limi village of Ward No. 6 of Namkha VDC of Humla, sources said.

The Chinese side has unilaterally completed the construction of a building in Nepali territory, one kilometer inside the border between the two countries.

Bishnu Bahadur Lama, chairman of Namkha village municipality, who returned from Lapcha area a few days ago, said that the Chinese side had unilaterally constructed nine commercial buildings in Nepal.

He said that the buildings were formed in Gabu Yalma, a Nepali territory in the Lapcha region, and when he reached there, the people of that region were seen moving towards Chinese territory in vehicles, indicating connectivity ensured by the Chinese towards their side.

He also said that he was unable to realise as to what was the purpose of the buildings built on Nepali soil and added that he also tried to know about the construction with the responsible official of the Chinese side, but the attempt was not successful.

Earlier, only three buildings were constructed at the same place during the construction of Limi Lapcha road in 2009, but the Chinese side had stopped the construction work then.

However, now they have built more buildings and are working on their interior finishing said, Chairman Lama.

According to him, even though the area is Nepali territory, Chinese security personnel has not allowed Nepalis to enter.

But the Chinese security personnel can move around in Nepali territory in vehicles.

Currently, there is a boundary pillar number 12 on a hill little far from where the building was constructed.

However, border post number 11 is missing.

Chairman of Ward No. 6 Paljor Tamang also said that the area where the building was constructed was Nepali territory.

Tamang said, "Earlier, when the people of Limi raised the issue during the construction of the building, the Chinese side said that they would build a vaccination block to treat the animals of both the countries." But they have never been used since the building was built. '

In the area where the building is now built, there used to be a barter trade between the Chinese and Nepali sides.

Currently, a road has been constructed to Limi through the same area.

Chief District Officer Chiranjeevi Giri said that a team of the Joint Security Agency was going to Lapcha to find out about the incident.

Giri said that they have heard about the incident and a team comprising Chief District Officer, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and National Investigation and Village Chairman is preparing to go to the construction site to get information.

Chinese PLA and border police have occupied Nepalese Territory at Limi Lapcha area of Namkha gaupalika (rural municipality) of Humla district.

There are 12 cemented houses at Lapcha made by Chinese people.

Earlier one house had been built in 2017 but Local Nepali authorities have opposed with Chinese counterparts of Taklakot.

Now the district administration office Humla has reported to the ministry of home affairs on August last week that 12 houses are already built.

Chinese people are coming to stay there, sources said.

Local people have reported to the district administration that Chinese PLA persons keep coming there. Border pillar is missing there and Chinese are taking advantage from that.

Kailash Mansarovar Connection:

Limi Lapcha is a very strategic place from where Kailash Mansarovar is seen clearly.

Assistant CDO of Humla Dattaraj Hamal and a small team of CDO office had visited there last time.

They had seen the houses of Chinese in Nepal’s territory.

CDO of Humla Chiranjivi Giri has been instructed by Home Secretary Maheshwar Neupane for field visits as soon as possible.

East and west part of this area is bordering with Tibet.

2419 sq meter is covered by that Gaupalika.

Chinese funded gumbas are also there in Lapcha area.

Earlier the area was a gazing land for yaks and sheep.

Meanwhile, the Chinese army has increased the number of troops for two weeks.
