Pakistan: 25 hurt in Rawalpindi blast, 3 arrested

Rawalpindi: The total number of injured following a blast in Pakistan's Rawalpindi city has now touched 25, media reports said on Monday.

The explosion occurred at Ganj Mandi Police Station on Sunday.

Three people are reportedly in a critical condition according to Rescue 1122, while 19 others had to be shifted to the District Headquarter Hospital in Rawalpindi. Three people who sustained minor injuries due to the blast were given first aid on the spot, reports Geo News.

Police rushed to the spot to carry out an investigation into the matter.

Commenting on the incident, City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Muhammad Ahsan Younas told Geo News that even though an investigation is currently underway, a terrorist plot cannot be ruled out as civilians were targeted. 

"According to the initial probe, some people riding a motorcycle were involved, but we are further looking into the matter," he said. "We have also applied security measures at the DHQ Hospitals. 

Arrests:

Meanwhile, the country's Counter-Terrorism Department said three terrorists have been arrested in connection with the blast.

The CTD officials told Geo News a possible militant attack on the Islamabad Stock Exchange was foiled with the arrest. of the three persons.
