Bangladesh: Islamist groups ask govt to sever all ties with China over 'Uighur Muslims brutality' issue
Dhaka/UNI: Islamic political parties have called upon the Bangladesh Government to sever all diplomatic ties with China, owing to alleged persecution of Uighur Muslims in the country.
They also called for boycotting the Chinese products if the torture on the community was not stopped.
Leaders of the parties made the call while addressing a rally held at North Gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after offering prayers, here on Friday.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Mufti Fakhrul Islam, chairman of Bangladesh Janosheba Andolon, said Muslims across the world would not remain silent if the 'torture' by China on Uighur Muslims was not stopped.
The Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh should be expelled, if necessary. Diplomatic ties should be cut off, he said, calling upon the government to warn the Chinese Ambassador so that the Chinese Muslims are not oppressed.
Alhaj Azam Khan, secretary general of Khelafot Andolon, alleged that China has been torturing Uighur Muslims for long time now.
He called upon all the democratic governments in the world to raise their voice in unison against the oppressive Chinese government.
Presided over by Mufti Jakir Hussain, the rally was addressed by Mufti Yamin Hussain Azmi, secretary general of Bangladesh Janosheba Andolon, Mufti Abdullah, Mufti Abdul Halim, Mufti Abu Darda and Maulana Delwar Hossain.
