Bangladesh to add 400,000 new Bangla words to Google Translate

Dhaka, Mar 20 (IBNS): A move which will help Bengalis across the globe, the Bangladesh government is all set to add 400,000 new Bangla words to Google Translate on the occasion of its Independence Day.

Speaking on the initiative, which has been christened as ‘Banglar Jonnyo Char Lakh’, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was quoted as saying by bdnews24.com: "To put Bangla on top of everything, we’re going to create history on the Independence Day."

"We’ll take Bangla on top by adding 400,000 words to Google Translate on Mar 26 with participation from everyone from home and abroad,” he said.

"The Information and Communication Technology Division, Bangladesh Computer Council and Google Developer Group Bangla are jointly organising the programme," the website reported.
