In-person classes partially resumed in Pakistan

Authorities in Pakistan have allowed in-person classes at schools and colleges in some parts of the country in a move to reopen educational centers gradually. Schools in some of the districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be allowed to open in the first phase.

As per the decision of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC)-- the main body tasked to handle the Covid-19 crisis - it has been decided to start only Grade 10 and 12 classes with staggered attendance and strict compliance of SOPs from May 31.

Districts having a positivity rate of less than 5 percent positivity rate are currently allowed to open. However, classes will be held on alternate days, reported Daily Pakistan.

Classes up to Grade 8 and Grade 9 and 11 will re-open on June 07, the NCOC decided, also with staggered attendance. The private educational institutions have been ordered to follow instructions in letter and spirit.

All educational faculty above the age of 18 years across Pakistan will be eligible for walk-in vaccination. The teachers are required to carry their employment letters along with their ID cards to get the vaccine.
