Herat: Taliban terrorists on Friday seized Herat city in Afghanistan, the third largest city of the country, media reports said.
The terror group captured several government institutions in the city.
Sources told told Tolo News that all government officials, including Herat governor, police chief, head of the NDS office in Herat, former mujahedeen leader Mohammad Ismail Khan, the deputy minister of interior for security, and the 207 Zafar Corps commander surrendered to the Taliban after the province fell to the group.
The Taliban earlier claimed to have captured Kandahar city.
Heavy clashes are underway in the center of Logar province, 70 kilometers south of Kabul city, the news portal reported.
