Islamabad/UNII: PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday night said that 'the darkest period in the history of Pakistan has ended' after Imran Khan lost the trust vote in the Pakistan National Assembly late Saturday night.

"The darkest period in the history of Pakistan has come to an end. We bow our heads befre The Almighty and pray for His guidance & success as we embark on a difficult journey of repairing the damage this man has caused to our homeland," Maryam Nawaz tweeted.

Pakistan's National Assembly voted out Imran Khan as the prime minister of the country as it passed the no-confidence motion against him with 174 votes in favour.

The National Assembly needed at least 172 votes to remove the prime minister.

Imran Khan has become the first-ever Prime Minister in the history of Pakistan to be voted out of power through a No-Confidence Motion.

Imran Khan was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan on August 18, 2018.
