Baloch Yakjehti Committee leader Mahrang Baloch, who led the month-long sit-in protest to highlight the issue of mission persons and police torture in Balochistan, on Saturday said a “revolution” was brewing in the Pakistani region.

In her address at the Shahwani Stadium in Quetta, Dr Baloch also called the ongoing movement against enforced disappearance and operations “a watershed moment”, reported Dawn News.

Women, political workers and students from different areas of the province attended the gathering on Saturday.

“Today, the participants have proved that they are with their mothers and sisters in their struggle for the recovery of their loved ones,” she said.

“We proudly hold our heads high because of you,” she said.

She said the people of the Pakistani region have been protesting against “atrocities and injustices” committed by the state for the last 75 years.

Vowing that the protest would continue, she said: "They have weapons, but we have the courage to continue our struggle against the atrocities and injustices."

“As a daughter of Balochistan, I appeal to the people to continue this awami (public) movement as it is our mandate," the leader said.
