Dhaka: At least eight Bangladeshi nationals are among those who drowned in the Mediterranean Sea on Feb. 14, the Bangladeshi government said on Tuesday.

Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed in a statement the identities of the Bangladeshis who died while attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea, embarking on an unauthorised voyage from Libya to Europe on Feb. 13.

A boat, with 53 people on board, set sail from the Libyan coast and capsized off the Tunisian coast in the early hours of Feb. 14.
