Pakistani female teachers of Bara college await salary for 10 months
Nine female teachers of the newly established Government Girls Degree College in Bara region of Pakistan have been awaiting salaries for the past ten months.
The aggrieved staff told Dawn News during a visit to the college in Alamgudar area in Bara that they were faced with serious financial issues as they have now started borrowing money for their personal expenses from their relatives and friends.
The faculty members were hired on a contractual basis a year ago when the college started operating.
They joined the job with the promise that they would be regularised soon.
“We are now running from pillar to post for several months while pleading the concerned officials for release of our suspended salaries,” a visibly perturbed chemistry lecturer Ms Asmat Ara told Dawn.
Ufaq Ishaq, a mathematics teacher, was equally affected by the prolonged delay in payment of her salary and said she now heavily depends on her father.
