New York, Sept 30 (IBNS): Amid directions given by UK, US and Australia governments to their nationals to limit their movements in Bangladesh, country's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently in the USA, expressed her surprise over the move.

“Awami League leader Nazmul was murdered in New York City. Was an alert issued then?” Hasina was quoted as saying to media by bdnews24.com.

She termed the killing of Italian citizen Cesare Tavella  in Dhaka as  “very unfortunate”.

“There is an effort to create an atmosphere of fear not only in Bangladesh, but the whole world. But the people of Bangladesh believe in peace, not terrorism,” Hasina was quoted as saying.

Speaking on the alleged claims of militant group IS is behind the killing  Cesare Tavella, Hasina was quoted as saying to media by bdnews24.com: "As far as we know, a message from Chicago claimed that IS had done it. But we are yet to get any information that someone from Bangladesh claimed (responsibility for) the killing.”

Italian national Cesare Tavella was shot dead  in Dhaka on Monday.
