Ontario mother seeks help for daughter stranded in Dominica due to Hurricane Maria
The hurricane Maria has trapped Sara Ouellette Subero, who is presently stranded in a remote area of Dominica, along with her husband and children inside a car with a quantity of food that would last only for couple of days.
Subero's mother, who is in Canada, is waiting to a get a news about her daughter's condition after all connections with the island have been snapped.
The media report said that Subero's resort was destroyed by the storm on Thursday which left the family deserted with little amount of food.
Subero is presently living inside the car while several others of the resort had decided to walk kilometers to the capital city, Roseau.
Subero and her husband have decided not to tread the path as it would be risky to travel by the dangerous terrain, carrying a baby and a five-year old daughter.
The couple, who are in 30s, decided to move from Sturgeon Falls to Dominica in 2014.
Though Subero's mother said that she had called Global Affairs Canada for some support, she got even more perplexed after the phone call.
"After I told them everything, I expected them to say something about what the procedure is, or anything of help. But they simply told me they have no information right now," she said.
Several officials claimed that around 90% of the houses were destroyed or damaged by the hurricane in Dominica.
The Canadian government said their work for the evacuation of several students who had also sought help were disturbed.
However, the government said they are in constant touch with the university official to find out the ways they can be brought to the country.
