Toronto, July 23 (IBNS): Ontario police watchdog Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has identified the man behind yesterday’s shooting rampage as Faisal Hussain, 29, media reports said.

The shooting claimed the lives of 18-year-old nursing student Reese Fallon and a 10-year-old girl who has not been identified at the request of her family, police said today.

The police said Hussain was found dead, with a gunshot wound, after an encounter with officers on Danforth Avenue last night.

The SIU said an autopsy for Hussain was scheduled for Tuesday morning in Toronto.

Hussain's family emailed a statement to CBC Toronto saying they are devastated and that their son was struggling with "severe mental health challenges," including psychosis and depression.
