Canada PM Trudeau visits wildfire crews in British Columbia
Victoria, Aug 23 (IBNS): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday reached central British Columbia (BC) where few hundreds of wildfires are still active, media reports said.
Trudeau is in the province to meet with those people who are working to bring the wildfire under control.
The Prime Minister has tasked several members of his federal government with coordinating support and rebuilding efforts.
The federal and provincial governments are working together to control this dire situation.
Trudeau on Tuesday interacted with British Columbia Premier John Horgan to discuss the present situation of wildfires and its impact on the province.
According to media report, 565 wildlfires were active in BC till Wednesday.
More than 20,000 people are on evacuation alert or evacuation order, CBC News reported.
Tweeting a picture of his meeting with Horgan, Trudeau said: "This afternoon, Premier @jjhorgan and I met in Nanaimo to talk about the urgent and long-term impacts of the BC wildfires - and how the federal government can support people on the ground and help with recovery & rebuilding efforts."

In dismay, Horgan, who toured the affected areas, called the situation as "new normal".
"We're concerned — all of us — that this may be the new normal," Horgan was quoted by CBC News.
