Canada PM Justin Trudeau discusses developments in US-China trade talks with Donald Trump

Moscow, May 11 (Sputnik): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau discussed the latest developments in the Chinese-US trade talks in a phone calls with US President Donald Trump, Trudeau's press service said in a statement.

"The Prime Minister spoke today with United States President Donald Trump. The two leaders discussed latest developments on relations with China. The President provided an update on U.S. trade talks with China.

The Prime Minister and President agreed to keep in close touch on this and other important issues," the statement read on Friday.

The two leaders held their previous call on Thursday, discussing US trade tariffs on Canadian metal and Ottawa's efforts to ensure the release of Canadian nationals detained in China.

The latest round of US-Chinese trade talks finished in the United States on Friday. The sides have not reached any deal but agreed to meet for further negotiations in Beijing.
