Afghanistan: Security forces kill key Taliban commander in Uruzgan

Kabul/IBNS: Security forces in Afghanistan have killed 23 Taliban militants including a key Taliban commander, media reports said on Sunday.

The commander was identified as Mullah Samsoor.

The Taliban commander was reportedly in-charge of the high-tech weapons in southern Uruzgan province.

The Special Operations Corps in a statement said the Afghan Special Forces conducted an opertaion with the support of the Afghan Air Force in the vicinity of Tarinkot city, the provincial capital of Uruzgan, Khaama Press reported.

The statement further added that the security forces killed 23 Taliban militants including Mullah Samsoor, a key commander of the group who was in charge of waging insurgency using high-tech weapons, reported the news agency. 

The Taliban group did not comment on the issue so far.
