Kabul: Afghanistan's female reporters said the restrictions imposed on them by the Taliban regime have increased in recent times, making them worry about their future.

They said they are not even allowed to attend certain press conferences called by the Taliban.

“We went to cover two events; one event was organized by the Kabul governor and the other was by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum. We were not allowed to attend the events,” Tolo News reporter Amina Hakimi said.

“Freedom of press in Afghanistan is facing serious restrictions and the continuation of this situation will create big obstacles in the way of reporters, especially female reporters,” Suhaila Yousufi, a reporter, told Tolo News.

The female journalists asked the government to let them do their tasks.

“They should allow us to cover the news and make reports from newsworthy events,” Nazifa Ahmadi, a journalist, told Tolo News.

The Taliban captured power in Afghanistan last year as foreign forces started leaving the country.
