Canada: Higher voter turnout in advance polls in Ontario
Toronto, Jun 5 (IBNS): A higher voter turnout has been recorded in the advance polls in Ontario so far, media reports said.
Elections Ontario said the turnout has been high across the province.
Around 768,895 voters, which make up 18.8 percent of eligible voters, have cast their votes early.
The figure is 20% more than the last election which was held in 2014.
The Ontario election is scheduled to be held on Jun 7.
The Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used for the first time on Jun 7 in Canada's polling history.
The machine will be used to cast and count the number of votes polled.
The machine will scan voter cards and tabulate marked ballots.
