Vancouver/Xinhua: Canadian province of British Columbia confirmed six new COVID-19 cases Saturday, bringing the total to 58 in the country, according to provincial Chief Health Officer Bonnie Henry.

Out of the 58 confirmed cases, there are 28 in Ontario, 27 in British Columbia, two in Quebec and one in Alberta.

Among the six new cases in British Columbia, two residents at a care center in North Vancouver were infected. The facility is considered the site of an outbreak after a worker contracted the virus earlier this week.

Another two were infected while aboard a previous cruise on the Grand Princess and are now back in the province. The health officer advised all British Columbians to avoid traveling on cruise ships.

The final two new infections were related to travel from Iran.

With a slowly, but steadily rising number of COVID-19 cases in Canada, provincial and federal health officials continue to stress that the risk posed by the coronavirus in this country remains low.
