Canada: Indian consulate virtually observes 72nd Republic Day
Toronto/IBNS: The Consulate General of India, Toronto office began the observance of the 72nd Republic Day of India on Wednesday at 10 am with the virtual flag hoisting ceremony by Consul General Apoorva Srivastava.
Greeting all Indians, Indo-Canadians, and friends of India on the auspicious occasion of the 72nd Republic Day, Srivastava said, "71 years ago on 26th Jan, our constitution came into effect. This enlightened our foundation of the Republic, and guides not only our governance but also forms the aspiration of our vision of liberty, justice, and equality for all Indians."
She then said that the "COVID-19 Pandemic has touched all our lives, no one is immune and we are all in this together. While 2020 was the year of the virus. and 2021 is the year of vaccine and of hope."
She added that she is extremely proud of the Indians and the Indo-Canadian community here in Canada for working at the forefront during the pandemic and supporting the community.
She congratulated each and every member of the diaspora on India's Republic Day and added that being global citizens and born in India, they would always remain special.
Throughout the pandemic, the consulate had continued to serve the community whether by facilitating in providing emergency evacuation or by continuing to provide regular consular services in most trying conditions.
Srivastava added that the consulate would continue to do its best in serving the community and build a deeper bond between the two nations.
