Canada: Ontario registers 569 fresh cases of COVID-19
Toronto/IBNS: Ontario's newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday drove the seven-day average down to about 1,423, from 1,443 on Nov 16, media reports said.
For the second time in four days, the seven-day average, which helps measure to provide a clearer picture of longer-term trends, has gone down following two straight weeks of the steep surge.
About 256 infections were recorded in Peel Region and York Region registered another 94 cases.
However, under 26,500 test samples for the novel coronavirus have been processed by Ontario, far below the current capacity of about 50,000.
While the Peel region was already in the COVID-19 ‘red’ zone, Doug Ford, Ontario's Premiere, on the recommendations of health experts moved Toronto, Hamilton, Halton and York regions also to COVID-19 ‘red’ zones which contains more severe restrictions.
