Fredericton (NB)/IBNS: Making history, voters in Canada's New Brunswick elected a new government that would be led by Liberals and Susan Holt is all set to become the first woman premier of the province.

The Liberals led by Susan Holt won 31 seats ousting Blaine Higgs of Progressive Conservatives (PC)s' 16 seats and two for the Greens.

Repeating her promise in her speech after the victory, Holt said to the supporters that while watching the province's bottom line the Liberals would also invest in health care and education.

Being a mother of three young girls, Holt also made clear to the public and the news media and said: "My mama bear's going to come out. Please treat my children with care because they are sacrificing for New Brunswick."

Meanwhile, Higgs not only lost the premier’s job but also failed to hold onto his seat in the riding of Quispamsis.

During a call to congratulate her, Higgs message to Holt was to keep the party together while they rebuild, adding that many things were left undone and to fix the province.

PC's five cabinet ministers who lost respectively were Jill Green in Fredericton North, Greg Turner in Moncton South, Ted Flemming in Rothesay, Ernie Steeves in Moncton Northwest, and Réjean Savoie in Miramichi Bay-Neguac.
