Canada: Woman protests against controversial Toronto professor, arrested
Kingston, Mar 7 (IBNS): A woman was arrested on Tuesday in eastern Ontario after she had participated at a protest against controversial Toronto professor Jordan Peterson, media reports said.
The woman was arrested near Queen's University in Kingston last evening.
Around 150 people had staged a protest against Peterson who has been accused of not using gender-neutral pronouns and opposing Bill C-16, which extends legal protections to transgender people of Canada.
However, the arrested woman was not a student of Queen's University.
The police said the woman was standing on one of the building's window ledges and banging the window. She later broke the window leading to her own injury.
Though she had tried to escape, police in informal clothes caught her.
She has been charged with mischief, assaulting police and in possession of weapon.
Peterson is a psychology professor in University of Toronto.
