China on Monday executed a man who ploughed his car into crowds at a sports center in Zhuhai in November last year, a rare incident in the country which left at least 35 people dead.

The executed person was identified as Fan Weiqiu.

The execution was conducted by the Zhuhai Intermediate People's Court after the death sentence was approved by the Supreme People's Court, Xinhua reported.

Fan was convicted of the crime of endangering public safety by dangerous means in December 2024, the Chinese news agency reported.

In another episode, another Chinese man was also executed in the eastern city of Wuxi for killing eight people in a stabbing rampage on a college campus in November.

The executed person was identified as Xu Jiajin.

He was convicted of killing eight people and injuring 17 others.

The penalty was executed by the Intermediate People's Court in the city of Wuxi, Jiangsu, after the Supreme People's Court approved the death sentence, reported Xinhua.
