Chinese court orders new trial for Canadian convicted in drug case
Beijing, Dec 29 (IBNS): A Chinese court on Saturday ordered a fresh trial for a Canadian who was convicted in a drug smuggling case, media reports said.
Robert Lloyd Schellenberg was tried in 2016.
An appeals court has agreed with prosecutors who had argued that Schellenberg was too leniently punished.
He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment.
The maximum punishment for drug smuggling in China is death.
