From PM Trudeau to Foreign Minister Freeland, Canada hopeful of NAFTA future

Ottawa, Feb 2 (IBNS): The sixth round of North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) seems to have boosted Canada more than any other partner in the trade pact.

According to a media report, Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland is hopeful for a future in NAFTA.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Freeland has recently said there is a possibility for all nations-the US, Canada and Mexico-will come in a win-win situation.

Freeland said: "We made some progress on the most difficult issues, the areas of the unconventional U.S. proposals, where we managed to start a real conversation."

Freeland's comment came days after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he is optimistic about the trade pact.

Even if the US withdraws, Canada is prepared, Trueau said giving out a signal to his trade partner.

Trudeau said this in a recent interview with Chris Hall, host of CBC Radio's The House.

He was quoted by CBC News saying, "Not only do we have a Plan B, we have a Plan C and D and E and F."

"What [Plan B] involves is standing up for Canadians and making sure that we move forward in the best possible way, and depending on what the Americans do, depending on what decisions the administration takes, we'll make sure that we do the right things" he added.

The sixth round of North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has ended in Montreal on Monday with a little "progress".
