IS teenager Shamima Begum's baby dies
London, Mar 9 (IBNS): The son of Shamima Begum, who had once fled the UK to join the Islamic State group has died, media reports said.
The baby son of Shamima Begum - who fled London to join the Islamic State group - has died, a spokesman for the Syrian Democratic Forces was quoted as saying by BBC.
As per BBC report, the group, which runs the camp where the teenager has been living, confirmed the death on Friday.
According to the medical certificate, the child died of pneumonia.
The baby was less than three weeks old.
A UK government spokesman was quoted as saying by BBC the death of any child was "tragic and deeply distressing for the family".
A paramedic working for the Kurdish Red Crescent in the camp told the BBC that the baby, called Jarrah, had been suffering from breathing difficulties.
He was taken to a doctor on Thursday morning before being transferred to hospital, along with his mother, but died at 13:30 local time that day, the medical worker added.
The child has been reportedly buried.
Shamima had left London with her two friends in 2015 and were later found in a Syrian refugee camp in mid-February.
However, she later wanted to return to Britain but she was stripped of her citizenship.
A Dutch IS fighter called Yago Riedijk, who is considered to be her husband, is currently in a prison.
