Japan: One dead, 2 injured in chemical factory explosion
Tokyo: One man died and two others sustained light injuries following an explosion at a chemical plant in Japan's Niigata Prefecture on Wednesday, local media reported.
An emergency call made Wednesday morning said there was a small explosion at chemical maker Denka Co.'s plant in Itoigawa city, Kyodo News reported, citing local police and firefighters.
A 56-year-old worker Senji Watanabe and two other co-workers in their 30s and 40s, respectively, were cutting pipes at the plant when the explosion occurred, said the report, adding that Watanabe was showing no vital signs when he was taken to the hospital.
