Kabul: At least five soldiers killed in attack on military academy

Kabul, Jan 29 (IBNS): At least five soldiers were killed after insurgents launched a coordinated attack on a military academy in Afghanistan on Monday, media reports said.

The incident took place in Kabul near the Marshal Fahim military academy at around 5 am.

Officials said that while four militants died, one was nabbed by security forces.

According to the initial reports, a group of insurgents engaged in heavy gun battle with the security forces close to the Marshal Fahim military academy and several explosions were heard, Khaama Press reported.

Among the four militants, two were gunned down during the encounter, while the other two blew themselves near the security checkpost.

At least 10 soldiers were injured, officials added.
