Landslides claim two lives in Cox's Bazaar

Dhaka, Sept 10 (IBNS): In separate incidents of landslides, which were triggered by heavy rainfall, at least two children lost their lives in Bangladesh's Cox's Bazaar area, media reports said.

The tragedy occurred in Teknaf upazila.

The incidents occurred in Urumarchhara and Fakiramora areas under Pallanpara village in Teknaf municipality on Tuesday morning, reported Dhaka Tribune.

The deceased were identified as Mehedi Hasan, 10, and Alifa, 5.

Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Rabiul Hasan said the landslides occurred 8:30am due to incessant downpour in the area since early morning.

Locals rushed to the spot and rescued those injured in the incident.
