Washington/IBNS: Microsoft Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Satya Nadella's son Zain Nadella passed away at the age of 26 on Monday, media reports said.

Zain, who was born to Satya and Anu Nadella, was born with cerebral palsy.

The American technology company has asked its executives to hold the Nadella family in their thoughts and give them space to grieve privately.

After taking over as the CEO in 2014, Satya Nadella led the company in designing products to better serve users with disabilities, citing lessons he learnt raising Zain.

Jeff Sperring, CEO of Children’s Hospital, wrote in a message to his board as quoted by India Today, "Zain will be remembered for his eclectic taste in music, his bright sunny smile and the immense joy he brought to his family and all those who loved him."
