Mother would expose lies to fiance, enough reason for Toronto man to kill family
Brett Ryan, 36, pleaded guilty in the court for killing his three family members week before his wedding in 2016.
Ryan pleaded guilty to first degree murder of his oldest brother Christopher, two counts of second degree for younger brother Alexander and mother Susan.
He also pleaded to be guilty for attempting to murder his older brother Leigh.
Ryan has been sentenced to life imprisonment without the right to parole before 25 years.
The convicted Torontonian was earlier imprisoned for five years back in 2009 for robbing eight banks. However, he was released few months before the completion of his jail term for serving pre-trial custody.
Later, in the year when he was about to be wedded, 2016, Ryan got a job at an IT company. But soon he was fired after the company gathered knowledge of his criminal record.
Though he admitted his loss of job to his mother Susan days before his wedding, Ryan kept on lying to his fiancee.
The guilty admitted on Friday that he killed his mother out of fear that the latter might disclose the fact of losing job to his fiance. Ryan feared his wedding might be called off if his fiancee came to know truth.
