Islamabad, May 6 (IBNS) Pakistan's National Assembly on Tuesday adopted a resolution to unblock popular video-sharing website YouTube in the Asian nation.

The resolution was presented by  Pakistan Peoples Party politician Shazia Marri.

The website has been blocked by the country since Sept  17, 2012.

The move was made after the website was unable to take down a controversial  film that had sparked severe protests across the globe even as the country's  government had requested to do it.

The country blocked the site after then Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf ordered to shut down the site.
