Pakistan: 50 ministers belonging to Imran Khan’s party go “missing”
Islamabad: Amidst the no-confidence motion against Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, at least 50 ministers belonging to the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party have gone 'missing' from the political front, The Express Tribune reported citing sources.
More than 50 of the federal and provincial ministers have not been seen in public since the opposition began stacking up perils against Prime Minister Imran Khan, the report said on Friday.
Out of missing ministers, 25 were federal and provincial advisers and special assistants, while four of them were ministers of state, four advisers and 19 special assistants, The Express Tribune reported citing sources.
However, at the federal level, the prime minister continues to enjoy vigorous support.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Energy Minister Hammad Azhar, Minister of Defense Pervez Khattak and Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed are among the most vocal supporters of PM Khan.
Meanwhile, Qureshi and Khattak, on Saturday, visited the Chaudhry House for a meeting with Punjab Provincial Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and his son Minister for Water Resources Moonis Elahi.
The incumbent PTI government's delegation met with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders to convey an “important message” from Prime Minister Imran Khan, reports The Express Tribune.
According to the report, the government has stepped up its efforts to win over its allies with the looming no-confidence motion against PM Khan.
