Pakistan: Air strike kills 27 militants

Rawalpindi, June 16 (IBNS): Pakistan on Monday said 27 militants were killed in air strikes in the country's North Wazirastan area.

"Early morning today 6 x hardcore Terrorists hideouts in Shawal, North Waziristan Agency were destroyed by jet aircrafts. In these precise strikes 27 x terrorists were killed. There is no civil population in the area," Pakistan's Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

It also said: "6 x soldiers embraced shahadat while 3 are injured due to IED explosion between Afghan border and Ghulam khan in North Wazirastan Agency today."

It said jet aircraft precise strikes on Sunday in Degan- Boya in North Wazirastan were very successful in which 140 terrorists were killed.

The agency said most of those killed are Uzbeks.

"Security has been beefed up in all major cities and towns and at sensitive installations across the country by civil administration. Army troops have been alerted and forward placed to assist law enforcement agencies. They will remain at designated places and whenever asked by civil administration will be employed in case of emergency," it said.
